Privacy policy

Effective 26 October 2026. NineRove is an independent experimental discovery website using YouTube API Services.

Your browser data

Favourites, the last 100 displayed videos, playback preferences and your agreement to this policy are saved in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to our catalogue server. Video references may remain until you remove them; clearing site data removes them. Use Settings → Delete my local data to clear this data and withdraw your agreement to loading players. Closing or leaving Browse stops playback.

Saved-list exports contain public video identifiers, recent-history timestamps and playback preferences, not copied video titles or player consent. Export and import happen locally without uploading the file. Keep exported files private. Moving from Random Shorts to NineRove does not transfer browser data automatically: use the old site's export page and import the file in Settings. Only videos still in the current catalogue are restored. Deleting site data does not delete files you have downloaded.

YouTube and Google

Before you agree to load YouTube, we request only our own website and catalogue. After agreement, embedded players contact YouTube and share information such as your IP address, device/browser information and playback activity. YouTube may use cookies, personalise playback and serve its own advertising. New visitors start muted; later visits restore your saved sound preference, subject to browser autoplay restrictions. You can choose not to continue and leave the website.

See the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service. NineRove does not request access to your Google account. Deleting local NineRove data does not delete data held by YouTube or Google.

Hosting

Cloudflare hosts this website and processes connection information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect it. We do not intentionally store visitors' IP addresses in our catalogue. Infrastructure providers may retain operational or security records under their own policies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Catalogue

Our shared database contains public video identifiers and limited public information from YouTube, not video files or visitor favourites. We refresh this information periodically and delete expired records. Known unavailable videos are removed on their next successful check. We do not run advertising, analytics or visitor accounts in this beta.

Short suggestions and spam protection

The optional submission page loads Cloudflare Turnstile to check for abuse. Cloudflare processes connection and device information, including your IP address, for that check and rate limiting. We send the verification token and connecting IP to Cloudflare's verification service. This check is not loaded on ordinary browsing or collection pages.

We store only the submitted public video identifier, suggested topic, review status and timestamps in a private queue, for up to 30 days followed by the next successful hourly cleanup. We also store daily, secret-keyed hashes of submitting IP addresses and attempt counters for up to three daily buckets followed by cleanup, to enforce network limits; raw IP addresses are not stored in that queue or our counter tables. We do not request names or email addresses. Suggestions are manually reviewed before API validation and publication; they are not a public message board. Once published, the video identifier and refreshed public metadata enter our shared catalogue under the rules above. Hosting and security providers may retain separate operational information under their own policies.

Audience and reports

This beta is not directed at children. Videos marked as made for kids, age-restricted or region-restricted are excluded by our checks; this does not guarantee that remaining videos are suitable for everyone. Use Open to report a video through YouTube. You can remove your saved history, favourites, preferences and player consent through Settings without contacting us. Current-version tabs synchronize deletion. A non-identifying deletion marker remains locally to stop other open tabs restoring older saved data; it is not sent to our server. Refresh tabs left open on an older website version before relying on synchronized deletion.

Public topic collections

Collection pages show public video information and our own editorial text. They do not publish your favourites or history, load embedded players, or request YouTube thumbnails. Choosing a title opens the existing consent-gated player. Topic and video identifiers can appear in the page address; these are public references, not account identifiers.

Optional support

The Support NineRove link opens Buy Me a Coffee when you choose it. We do not embed its payment widgets or tracking scripts. Payments and payout processing are handled by Buy Me a Coffee and its payment providers under their own policies; NineRove does not receive your card or bank details.

Reports and sharing

Reporting a Short uses the same Cloudflare spam protection and network counters as suggestions. We store the public video identifier, a fixed report reason, review status and timestamps privately for up to 30 days followed by successful scheduled cleanup. We do not ask for free-text allegations, contact details or supporting documents. Reports do not automatically hide a video or send a report to YouTube. If an operator hides a video, we retain its identifier and the time of that moderation decision until the operator reverses it, to prevent re-import. This moderation record contains no submitter information or copied video metadata.

Sharing creates a public NineRove watch link containing a video identifier, never your favourites, history or account data. Shared preview pages contain public, unexpired video metadata and our own brand artwork; they do not load YouTube players. Your browser or chosen sharing service handles the share action after you choose it. Other services may cache link previews independently.

Contact and requests

Email randshorts@proton.me for privacy requests, creator concerns, removal requests or beta feedback. Please send only what is needed to identify the issue, such as a public Short link; do not send passwords, payment information or identity documents. If you email us, we receive your email address and message through Proton Mail and use them to respond and resolve the request. We aim to delete correspondence within 30 days after resolution unless continued retention is necessary for an unresolved dispute or a legal obligation. Emailing us does not submit a report to YouTube or delete information held by YouTube or other providers. Our local-data deletion button does not erase email correspondence; contact us to request that separately.
