About NineRove

A different way to discover Shorts.

A small, independent website that picks a YouTube Short from a selected catalogue—not from your usual recommendations.

How a video gets to your screen

  1. We choose sources. Our current registry contains 12 creator-owned Shorts playlists plus five operator-curated topic playlists. The latter are verified against our channel and keep the actual uploader of every video. Source review checks ownership and samples titles and technical metadata; it does not mean every video has been watched or certified suitable.
  2. The updater checks links. An hourly job uses the official YouTube API to discover candidates and check whether they are public, embeddable and meet our technical filters. There is no definitive Shorts flag in the Data API, so source selection matters.
  3. You get a fresh random pick. Each ordinary page load and Next gives every eligible candidate equal odds. We avoid immediately repeating the current video when another is available. There are no rounds, popularity rankings or paid placements. Shared links deliberately open the chosen Short first.
  4. YouTube handles playback. Videos play through YouTube’s embedded player, after you agree to load it. We store links and limited metadata, not copies of videos. YouTube may show its own ads.

What you can use today

Your browser, your saved list

No NineRove account is required. Favourites, recent history and preferences stay in this browser and do not sync between devices. Clearing site data removes them. We do not run visitor analytics or our own advertising. Loading the player contacts YouTube/Google, which may process device information and use cookies. Submission and report forms separately use Cloudflare’s spam check.

Keeping the catalogue current

Existing video records become due for refresh after seven days; the updater spreads checks across hourly batches. If refresh fails, metadata expires after 29 days and stops being served. Missing or technically ineligible videos are removed after a successful check. These checks do not guarantee that every remaining clip is suitable for every viewer.

The current beta has a 1,000-record guardrail. That is a limit we chose, not YouTube’s published permission threshold, and it is not a claim that 1,000 videos are already available. Automatic source imports have a 100-video-per-creator cap to encourage variety. Our curated playlists additionally start with two videos per creator per collection. That improves variety but does not make discovery globally unbiased. Changes take effect after a complete successful scan, not instantly. The service may pause imports or become unavailable when free allowances are exhausted.

Found something broken or confusing? Email randshorts@proton.me with your browser/device, what happened and the public Short link if relevant. Please do not send passwords or personal documents.

No release dates or visitor-growth promises are attached to these plans. Social-media activity is separate from the website and is not automated here.

YouTube rules and our independence

NineRove uses YouTube API Services and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google. Using official APIs is not a claim of YouTube approval. Refreshing metadata is one requirement, not blanket permission for every catalogue size or product design. YouTube also requires independent value, appropriate data handling and preservation of the player’s standard functionality. We need to assess those requirements as the service develops.

Donations are optional and never buy access, better selection odds or approval of a submitted Short.
